Writing and illustrating a book

I’ve started to write and illustrate a small graphic novel about Danny’s pancreatic journey. I don’t know if I can do this. I barely can look at pictures of him without crying but I feel like there are many people going through this that may benefit from his story. It will be my second graphic novel. The last one took a year to finish. So I have no idea when this will be done but it’s a start.

  1. It’s not only Danny’s story, it’s yours as well. You were his rock during his entire journey, and your threads are woven throughout his entire life, right down to the final chapter. I’m sure Danny will be whispering in your ear while you write this, and your words will flow from your heart. I can hardly wait to read it! Love you, my friend……

  2. I think this will be a wonderful project Kathy for a number of reasons. First, it is a lovely tribute to Danny. Second it will likely be quite a journey for you, a difficult but worthy one. In addition, this book is something that many other people may find helpful in their own journey through the difficult process of losing a loved one. You guys did it in your own way, and it worked. Others may not feel comfortable in demanding a different path than one suggested by “experts”. Love you

  3. What a great idea and keep going! Writing is so therapeutic. Pancreatic Cancer is a brutal cancer. I lost my amazing Dad to it two years ago. Thanks for raising awareness of this awful disease. I have a poetry blog here on WordPress and am trying to raise some Christmas funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK in case you have time to look? Festive greetings, Sam 🙂

  4. I’m sorry for your loss. I too have my whole pancreas swollen and I am told I have autoimmune pancreatitis. I don’t know how I am going to survive next few days let alone weeks and months. Can you please share where he was diagnosed and by whom? Doctors and hospital? Where he got his surgery etc. I am scared and wanted to get a second opinion. Please contact me via WhatsApp on +023433057090. I would be really helpful. As you know time is of essense here. Please contact soon for my life/health sake. Thank you.

    • I’m am sorry you are going through this. Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia is where he got his surgery. I don’t remember the doctors names at this point.
